From machine counts to floor flexibility
For most of the past two decades, the headline metric for a casino refurbishment was the number of positions on the floor. Conversations with floor planners and equipment specialists suggest that the metric increasingly under discussion is different: how quickly a room can be changed once it is open.
That change of emphasis is being driven by the practical reality of running a modern resort property. Demand patterns inside a venue vary by day, season and event calendar.
The cabinet as a platform
Manufacturers have leaned heavily on the idea of a cabinet platform: one mechanical chassis, several display configurations, and a software layer that is common across the range. For an operator, the appeal is procurement simplicity.
There are trade-offs. A platform strategy tends to reduce the visual distinctiveness of an individual machine, and floor teams have to work harder with lighting and spatial rhythm to prevent a room reading as uniform.
